It seems a little strange to me. He wants to use PayPal to pay me. Is there a way to scam via PayPal?

don't have an account with PayPal, its pretty easy to open one, Just
log onto www.paypal.com and sign up. I hope we can make the purchase
as fast as possible? As I am buying the vehicle for my dad and I'm
very sure he will love this vehicle, his a mechanic and a handy man,
so if there is anything that need to be fixed in it just let me know
he will handle it. I have a mover that will come for the pick up once
payment clears in your account and he will handle the title for me.I
would appreciate if you email me with more pictures (if available) too
since i won't be able to see this in person. You may receive an email
like this from other people because i told my colleagues and team mate
to help me lookout for the vehicle as well,,so deal with me directly .

The most common paypal scam against a seller is to "pay" the seller and complete the sale while the transaction is still pending. By the time the transaction cancels due to lack of funds in the buyers account, they've taken off with your property.

But in this case, it'll be a variation of the cashiers check scam. He'll send you a paypal "payment" as above for way more than the agreed price. Then you'll immediately get a followup message about how his "movers" are coming to pick the item up and to please send the overage to them via Western Union now so they will come to get it.

You send the money by Western Union. Then the pending paypal transaction cancels. And you're out the money.

Also, the guy is probably from a country that isn't covered by paypal seller protection. So paypal won't do anything for you.

I got the same story when selling my bike. Guy was on an oil rig and the rest of the story was as stated in your post. Must have been a massive oil rig to have room to ride a bike on. Some people!!

yep very common one too. There use to be a warning on CL about this.

He can pay is mover with paypal. Have his mover bring the cash with him. Take it to the bank to make sure it is not counterfeit. Then he can have said truck.

Last time it happened to me, I emailed the guy back and kept messing with him. It was a pretty good time. We got 8 or 9 replies in before he realized I had no intent of selling it to him. He made me an offer, I replied with a full price reply, he said ok, I said no I need more, he asked why, I said because of the hassle, he agreed, I said no I needed more again, and he finally got the picture and stopped replying. It was a good time.

That whole message screams scam.

This is a big scam. Some female (maybe) was selling an RV, was promoted, and being sent to Alaska (USAF). I called both Bases and they told me that they had many calls about this and it was a scam. More Craiglist BS

I recently sold quite a lot of farm equipment on CL and had several of the calls similar to this. I just learned to recognize them as a scam and hung up. In the end, I got legitimate calls from all over the state and many ended up being buyers. I don't know of another place that you can get the wide readership at a reasonable cost.

Scam. Saw a similar add on a tractor that was selling way too cheap. I coulda had some fun with your scammer. I was stationed at Ft. Huachuca when I came back from Nam.
