Yes sir just back strap!! Trimmed all red and black off !! Gar doesn't fall apart or get soft like other fish .

I have done that with other types of fish. Tastes really good.

What type of gar, or does it matter?

I have had alligator gar cooked up in small balls and they were really good.

Alligator gar and needle nose gar work the best due to size

Anyway gar is good but in crab boil sounds even better

I've always wanted to try the crab boil on it. Just never have yet.

Yes sir it does at that oven was set to high and I did not catch it in time when I put it in there to keep it warmed up
