Emma trip...started off right! pics added - 06/27/13 03:57 PM

I am adding some pics right now. Give me a few....

So I came today to bait up again and drop a line or 3 in the water. I got here about 730am and put out the lines. From there, I threw out about 20 method balls. Also threw out a bunch of cubes.

The first fish came about 1030, a 16# common.

The second fish came like 15 minutes later, a 12.5# common.

I'm leaving soon to finish up some stuff at home and will pick up where I left off hopefully tomorrow morning.

The fish came on tutti giant corn and fruitti peach maize.

Emma produces so well in the mornings.Me thinks an epic size grasser would luvs them some tutti fruity or peach maize.I've only tried giant maize twice and the regular size outfished it( may have to give it a try again) but tutti fruity was the bomb for grassers, and buff and commons like it also.Don't know if it was the color or the flavor. I did'nt try peach at emma but I think it will be a great flavor there also.

Re: Emma trip...started off right! - 06/27/13 08:37 PM

Ended up with 5 commons and left at 1. Biggest was 16.75#.

Tomorrow cannot come soon enough!

The weeds are not bad at all. Only a minor annoyance.

Mirror is pretty special for Emma. She's on fire.Emma's like a box of chocolates momma always said.Ted after about 1:30pm you may have to get mentally tough. The ratio of boaters to fish caught is about even for myself historically in the afternoon, but you are just getting started and sounding like the making of an epic session.Plenty of time for a fatty or two to move in on the swim.

Re: Emma trip...started off right! - 06/29/13 06:35 PM

Chad had slayed them over there all morning.

I couldn't even keep 3 rods in due to being so busy with fish.

It has died right now, but we will keep plugging away.

I think we are at 34 fish for my site and chad has at least 15
Posted By: badchade

Re: Emma trip...started off right! - 06/30/13 12:47 AM

Yeah. The rods were quiet through the night, then I was awoken at 6:00 with my first run. I sacked the fish for photos later, rebaited, then had my second fish. Before I could get that rod back out, I had another, then while that one was one the mat, I landed another. All commons- High Singles to Low Doubles.

It was now 6:45, and folks were starting to wake up. I got a run and put my Princess on one, Then Trey got one. We took some pictures, weighed & released them all, then got another run. Cameron caught a little catfish, then a Carp. We started catching fairly regularly so we decided to trick it up. I had brought my belly boats down so when we got another run, Cameron strapped in and let the fish pull him a little bit. We landed that one and before we could weigh him, we had another run- That's Right- a Belly Boat Brace!! After a while Colleen and the boys went for a nature walk and left me alone to tend the rods. While they were gone, I still stayed busy. I could see that my baits were being toyed with so I started holding my rod. I felt a tug and yanked- I pulled in a nice sunfish along with my method ball. I was running low on Cream Corn for my method so I just casted it back out. In about 3 minutes, it produced a carp- Again. The method ball state on... So I tested my luck again... And sure enough, it produced one more time. Later I caught again.

As of this report, My crew is at 16 and Ted's crew is at 35....

Re: Emma trip...started off right! - 06/30/13 06:23 PM

I'm back now. I got my phone wet and it fried...I will have to get pics from either Chad or my other buddies.

Total for my site was 40 fish even. I finished it off this morning with a 30# buff.

Overall, we caught 3 buffs, 2 grassers and the rest were all commons with the biggest being 22#. The grassers went 15# and 35#. The buffs went 25, 27, and the 30. That last buff though was the hardest fighter for me of the whole trip.

He stripped off no less than 100 yards of drag after I started reeling him in.

Awesome trip. I am exhausted.

Yep- Epic Trip!

We just got back too.

Ted & Crew- Thanks again for your hospitality and for getting that site for us- We wouldn't have done it if that hasn't happened. We'll do it again soon!

Re: Emma trip...started off right! - 07/01/13 12:30 AM

Yeah, we stayed in the water quite a bite and sprayed sunblock on constantly. We drank a lot of water...and a lot of beer.

Give me a few days to track down all the pics. I have to buy a new phone and wont have it til at least Tuesday.

Only bad part was phone frying and insane amounts of boats.
The heat was bearable because we got wet when we were hot and had plenty of shade.

I scouted that spot 2 summers ago, which was the last time I was there and it was pretty much unfishable.I can tell by the pictures it is vastly better. No surface weeds are visable, and looks much cleaner near the shore. Whether its the grassers or other factors contributing to this its all good.Mighty fine work by crew. bannana2

Re: Emma trip...started off right! pics added - 07/05/13 02:31 PM

I have to say that I put a lot of pre work into this session. I made a ton of bait to throw out ahead of time and drove my ars up to Austin Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

I believe my method balls and range cubes brought them in, and then they were hungry for my hookbait on Friday.

About the weeds. I went to Walsh Landing not too long agao and it was pretty much unfishabel, and i was worried about the weeds at Emma. I guess we were just lucky.
