Nice fish.

Why do so many Carp guys not look at the camera though? I see it over and over again and its pretty much always a Carp fisherman.

Very observant, good question! You are correct about it being pretty much a carp fisherman thing. I asked the same question here about a decade ago to carp angler Scott Evil. He told me its because its all about the fish, not him. I tend to brag and talk about myself to much to make the same claim, but at least I'm putting a little effort into it to give the fish some respect. Thanks for the questionJCB! ... ps even amongst carp anglers its fine to look straight into the camera, this is the fist time I've looked away. It took 6 days of fishing for this capture and this carp deserves it! woot

Hey Mr. Sanders! Our first goal was to catch a fish period. We love to catch Common Carp and Smallmouth Buffalo but in the warmer months chances of getting into some Buff are not that great. We fished 3 different weekends starting out last October. We had 1 bite the whole weekend and managed a scrappy little Common Carp, We were actually pretty thrilled. This one put up a good fight and we enjoyed hearing our bite alarms going off for the first time in many years!. We came back this spring to fish a couple of weekends and the fishing seemed to be even slower. No Buffalo surfacing, no Commons crashing the surface in the mornings. We were blanking hard, no bites or even nibbles. I told my son that just when we think we can't catch anything we have ended up having our best captures ever. I left my son alone to mind the rods for a few minutes and when I came back he was fighting this Common carp in the picture! ps...the sling is great, it is a new one and it can be unzupped and laid on top of or unhooking mat! Thank you Sir!

Thank you Bites and Strikes. This was the first nice size Common Carp we have had in our net in over 7 years. It's easy to forget how big and beautiful they can be. When I was about to net it I was telling my son that it looked like it could be about 18 or 19 lbs. He replied as it got closer that he thought it was a 20 and when it got in the net up close we knew it was even bigger than that and yes absolutely beautiful!

I guess we don't look at cameras because the carp are prettier than the photographer most of the time? Maybe we are permanently distracted? Hmmmmmmmm ....

Ha! This one was a reel looker and actually made ME look better, and utilized all 24Lbs to hide my gut! Catch, photo and releasing carp is a sustainable system for a more beautiful world! Thanks texasflycaster!
