Hummingbird migration peaking

Hummingbird migration peaking - 09/07/19 06:23 PM

The hummingbird migration is peaking at my place just north of Mineola. They should be here until the 1st or 2nd week of October, depending on the weather. I may have 80 to 100 hitting my feeders(9). I am going thru a lot of sugar for sure.

I have a mess of them too maybe twenty or so hitting the yard but not nearly as many as you going on. Both black chins and ruby throats have been around. My birds haven't been getting along well enough for them to attend the feeders like yours are. I might get two or three at a time before they get agitated and start chasing one another around. When they dart off another three or so will show up until the others return and the cycle starts again.

I'm sure they are happy to have such a great refueling station.

I'm just south of Rockport. Last week, I had over thirty Hummers. Down to about a dozen this morning. Another week, and they'll be mostly gone South. IslandJim

This is an old thread. This was from last Sept 2019. I have my typical 4 or 5 that hang during the summer.

I had one a few days ago. I have no idea what time they come through south Texas.

Just put up my first feeder in NW Austin last week. I've seen one, but the feeder is getting emptied in about 3 days. Either he eats like I do or there's more coming I'm not seeing. The thought of a real fat hummingbird kinda makes me giggle!

Wonderful! Thanks for sharing. My wife has a feeder out, but we have only seen a couple of humming birds here in Katy.
I am jealous...
