Anytime you hold a fish like that you risk snapping it’s jaw. A one pound fish has a one pound fishes jaw, not a 5 pound fishes jaw. They’re porportional, and all likely to break if held like that .

It wouldn’t have bothered that little fish long in my boat. I’d have filleted him in a few hours after catching him. He’s the kind that needs a close shave.
