Big Bowfin at Caddo Lake

caught this with some cut perch in the Big Cypress Bayou/Caddo Lake, awesome fighting fish, notice the bright green on its fins. Have caught smaller ones in the past, thought I had a monster blue on.

It's a cool cabin, caught a lot of fish off the dock. Wake up, grab a beer and start fishing (no shoes required).

Will take a week to get smell off of your hands

I clean my hands with toothpaste, works well for that fishy smell.

I was in Georgia when I caught my first. New to the area, did not know what it was. Lipped it to get my bait and it bit the snot out of me.

Gave it to my Thai neighbor. She ate everything but the lips and fins.

Back in the 70's. I caught a 14 lb'er at Toledo Bend while crappie fishing with minnows. One heck of a surprise. Had an Ambassador and 2 Zebco's out. Lucky he hit the ambassador. Weighed him and let him go.
