variety is the spice of life - lure variety that is! - 10/24/17 01:20 AM
Today I went out for four hours for the same reason I like to fish: the challenge of using different lure designs and modifications to catch different fish species. Here are a few:
Most important was the use of a 1/32 oz ballhead jig and 6# test f/c leader. Water temp had dropped to 59 in a week and the fish needed more time to get riled up using a slower retrieve.
Entire shore areas and humps held no fish, but once I found a 50yd section that held active fish, I pounded it as did the fish that pounded my lures. 44 total: bass, crappie, perch, and sunfish. Would have been more but I had a Dr.'s appt in the am.
