Bardwell 10-13-17 - 10/15/17 12:17 AM
Got me some more of the hot action at Bardwell, Friday the 13th. On the water at around 8:00am and off at 4:00pm. Started at the brush close to Love ramp, with not much action. Moved around to the brush by the water intake tower. About 6 fish there. Moved up to the bridge with no bites there, although I didn't give it much of a chance. I kept thinking about that shallow action I was on Wednesday. So off I went. Wasn't disappointed either. Caught 17 keepers there, in about an hour, before the wind got to rough to stay there. Motored across to the west side just looking for more brush piles or any other kind of structure that would keep me out of the wind. Didn't find anything worth stopping for. Cruised down to the south end, by the dam, and fished the spots I know there. No keepers there. Moved across the dam to the east side and got no takers. Ended back by the ramp and caught the final 2, to make my limit. 1/16th oz. plain jig head. I used a couple of colors this time. The usual Cajun Cricket WhatZit and a Salt and Pepper frog that Lane made for me a couple of years ago. The fish in shallow water, 5', liked the frog, but the fish in deeper water wouldn't touch it. Water temp was up to 75.9. Wind was light when I got there but was howling by noon. I only saw a couple of other boats out. It's been an awesome start to fall, for me. Y'all go get ya' some.
