Last 2 weekends - 09/10/17 01:00 AM
Went the last two weekends with Carter and Glenn and I haven't posted yet. Went Saturday and Monday for Labor Day weekend.
Still a bit of a tough bite in general with a lot of dinks. But managed some good keepers and had a great time.
We tried a variety of jigs and sizes and colors. We seemed to settle on about 14 to 16 foot of water. Some were shallower and deeper of course. Labor Day weekend we even caught a couple in 3 foot of water. Crazy. Some of them were about 4 cranks off the bottom.
By the third day which was Monday, Labor Day I didn't even take my jig boxes with me... just one little plastic bag with all black emerald shiner in 1/8th ounce and 1/16 ounce. Glen was using Pearl Ice. We also use Richard Malcolm's Slab Slobber. So our jigs look and taste like shad. Can't go wrong. lol
Also caught a few big buffs. That's always fun...
Thanks again (for the tenth time...) to Ken Gaby for coming up with the BES (Black Emerald Shiner) color and to Todd and Belinda for making it!
Good Times!!
