Lake Palestine | Weekend




Friday was Sara and her two boys Kayde and Vance.

The day started out slower than any trip i've ever run. It was two hours (i was one nervous guide) before we got the first crappie bite. Some fish were there and some fish were not. So i decided to make a six mile run, finally we started to catch fish after running and gunning.

This was a great little family to fish with. Sara is one awesome mom and gets mom of the year for taking her kids fishing. They little one vance had me rolling all day, he would make a heck of a comedian.

Mom and Vance claimed big fish of the day. We stuck with it and ended the day with 50 crappie!



Saturday was returning client Dewayne and his friend Scott. These two are good friends. I enjoyed fishing without them and really enjoyed them giving each other a hard time. Fishing friends are the best friends. Ended the day with 39 crappie!



Sunday was Mike and his father in-law John. These two are new to crappie fishing. So i stopped and grabbed some minnows and the training begin. After a little while of getting used to what a bite felt like they started slinging slabs in the boat. Ended the day with 36 crappie!

Thank you all for fishing with me. I have a few openings for July. Be sure to give me call if you want to learn how to crappie fish or just fill your freezer.

My mom was how I started fishing. She was a teacher and had summers off. She would take me over to Port Lavaca, stop at Evelyn's bait shop and buy me a pound of dead shrimp then we would head to the pier. She would take her lawn chair, umbrella and a book and sit there until I was ready to go or ran out of bait. I would catch drum, croakers an occasional redfish or trout and more hard heads than I care to admit. But, I was fishing and that is all that matters.

I had a trip Saturday and it was slow for me to. We had much the same results. First hour or so with no bites. I burned a lot of gas to get what we got. The bite was super funky.

As always. Nice haul.

Should have went to Palestine and followed Mark around yesterday. Great Job!
