Crappie Eagle Mountain - 06/10/17 02:58 PM

Anyone have any luck on the Mountain lately? I bass fish 99% of the time, but trying to learn this crappie technique. Thanks...

Minnows in the sailboat marina have always worked for me...

EM has a good population of crappie mainly a good group of docks( that I can never find LOL)
I rarely fish for them on the lake because I frequent Weatherford lake which is right down the road from me.
They are pretty easy to catch once you figure them out.
I like catching them deep on brushpiles.

I'll do some searching... I know of many brush piles...

Harbor One launch
(I would never launch there)
Heading south from the launch is a pier style dock right at the no wake line
Fished it many a year while and after we built those blue roof condo's.
I set the boat slips piece by piece by my self.
That pier has some crazy fish hanging around it all the time
Alot of folk fish "at it" but likely none know what a jigging spoon is
More skills you have the more species you can catch there

1/4-1/2oz chrome jigging spoons are well underrated everywhere
They catch fish most baits CANT,its the simple of it all really

I put my kayak in at Lake Country on Sunday morning to shoot docks. I really couldn't find them. A couple dinks and small bass. Fished some stuff that I had pretty good success on in May but I couldn't find them. Heard some reports of crappie being caught by the Fort Worth boat club and docks in 12 to 15 fow. But I sure couldn't find them Sunday. Hope you find them my friend.

I like the north side as is shades up
Youll loose a few on those freakin cables,no way around it
I callem Kentucky bass, some call them spotted, they are there up to about 16" some days and a very tasty when fried up.
The more you work that thing the more you learn
When your 14# gets yanked back to the spool youll keep hitting it LOL!
I call it the fish tank for a reason, there is so much there in a small place.

Probably like I do it on Bridgeport and dock shoot all the deep docks with 1/16 oz jig. Usually I go threw kinda fast hitting here and there until I catch one then slow down. During summer they're usually sitting only 5'-10' under docks and hit it on the fall. I would think EM would fish the same.

When i get the chance to get out there I'll let you know how I did. Live literally 1 min from lake country ramp and still can't find the time...

I fished with a guy, that has fished that lake for 20+ years.

We would fish one dock, catch a few crappie, then move 5-10 docks down and start fishing again??.......He "knew" which docks (usually) held fish and which ones never had any.

Point being, there are a LOT of docks on that lake that the crappie just don't like......Don't stay very long if you don't get any hits. wink

Back in my day some bait out with brush and others didnt
We they moved is was cleaned out and or redone
Any brush inside the wake of Harbor One always help good fish
With my limited stay in FTW of 22yrs,we managed just fine
Electronics makes just that more easy to smash a good mess inside the no wake.

I was on the north end yesterday. Skunked. But then again I wasn't specifically looking for crappie. Love to hear how you do.
