Back In The Saddle! Palestine 10/1 and 10/2 - 10/03/16 06:02 PM
Finally back on the water! Boat is fixed! Ended up putting a Baystar hydraulic steering set up in and man was it easy to install and the boat steers better than ever.
Saturday was the best and shortest crappie trip I've had as far as fishing goes. Stopped counting around 30. Probably caught close to 50 off of 1 tree! Fished one brush pile in 9 FOW and caught 2. Moved to a tree in 23 FOW and never moved! Left them STILL biting. They wanted an "active" jig. started out just popping it. Then if they didn't bite for a minute I'd just kinda shake it. Then when they stopped I'd jerk it up real quick and let it free fall. When that would quite working id start back popping and so on. The longest I'd go without a bite was digging the jig out with plyers when they inhaled it lol. Man, it was great to be back in my boat. All caught on 1 of my new hand ties, Bold (blue and gold)
Fishing was WAY slower Sunday, but I had an AWESOME day on the water with my girls! My daughter has been begging me to take her to the lake for 2 months but I haven't been able to with the boat broke, but I was finally able to and she had a blast. Brought home 7 crappie, 1 catfish, and great lifelong memories for all of us. It got HOT, no wind, no clouds, sorry shirt had to go. Fish weren't stacked on timber like Saturday. Caught fish on brush and timber from 9-23 FOW. Caught a few dinks that didn't make the cut. All fish caught on the "Haddie Special" a jig my daughter insisted I make for her to fish with lol. Pink and purple, her favorite colors. It truly was an awesome day getting to spend time with my wife and daughter on the water.
