I got on the lake again today. Those of you who think it's never too cold to fish might have gotten on the water early today, but I didn't. I waited for things to warm up and didn't make it to my fishing spot until just after 10:30. Winds were light and water temp was 47 to 49 degrees.
I headed back to the spot where I did so well Friday to see if it would produce again. The bite was tough the first couple of hours and it was almost noon before I boated a keeper. Things slowly picked up though, and by the time I left at 4:45, I had caught 25 keepers again. They were still holding 10 feet down, and still hitting my purple/chartreuse jigs. The bigger 1/8 oz jig caught more fish today. I cleaned four fish and released the rest.
I met Duck_Jerky on the water today. Nice meeting you, Brian! (So much for my secret spot.) He and I were the only ones in the area though, and soon after he showed up, he was reeling in fish, too.
The fillets from four fish completely filled a quart zip-loc freezer bag. Those were some nice fish!
