Thermocline rendering my graph useless

Thermocline rendering my graph useless - 07/22/15 10:03 PM

I have an Elite 5-DSI and it will not show anything below 15 ft because of all the static stuff from what I'm guessing is the thermocline. I've tried it on different lakes and it's the same (different depths of course). It's really frustrating that you can't adjust sensity. Just contrast. Anyone have any fixes or tips?

Try turning the contrast down.

Last Friday the thermocline on Palestine on the south end was 22 to 25 ft.

I passed you coming from the lake yesterday. Did you do any good out there? Got my seats back in my boat so I need to take it out!

I dont claim to be an expert on this subject but I think some of what you are seeing is a result of all the flooding we had a few months ago. I think it's some kind of debris line/ thermocline combination. I've seen it in most all the lakes around Wise County. My experience with a thermocline is that it is fairly narrow and you dont often find fish below it. I've managed to catch a few out of the middle of this stuff.

I didn't see any thermocline on Palestine last weekend but I didn't look deeper than 24 feet. I agree with Rockhopper that there is a ton of debris in the water and muffs things up.

Sounds like your graph is helping you. You should be fishing above the thermocline anyways so it is ruling out plenty of water for you.

I live 12 miles from lake Palestine, fish it almost every weekend and any day I can thru the week. Been fishing it for close to 40 years. Just got home from it 30 min ago. Just saying
