Wife wants to crappie fish....Toledo bend - 02/28/15 08:48 PM

is anyone willing to exchange tips on this crappie fishing for bass fishing info.... my wife likes catching and everyone tells me how good crappie fishing is on toledo bend. i just finished building my camp in six mile so somewhere close would be a plus. i devote too much time bass fishing (and my club tournaments have started) to do the crappie thing but i would like to catch some with her...are most people sinking their piles and baiting them? so far i have the slip cork, some monkey milk minnows and some crimp sinkers missing anything? anyone who fishes this area look for anything special? i always see people tied up to the trees? i have been unsuccessful in 2 trips and we are going again for her spring break, shes a teacher.....spring break is more for the teachers than the students lol

I've heard some good reports from the north end at Logansport but that's a long haul from 6 mile creek. I would imagine just like bass the crappie are staging in the mouths of creeks and shallow flats and may have already moved up into the creeks. I don't know this, I'm just guessing. Hopefully someone will be able to help you out. I feel more pressure when I'm trying to put my wife on fish than anyone else I fish with. lol. Good luck to you.

In about two weeks when the bass start pouring in to the shallows and you are fishing the flats and banks for them. put her in the back of the boat with a 1/8oz chartreuse roadrunner with a black and chartreuse curl tail grub or white roadrunner with sliver blue tail. tell her to fan cast it at a slow roll pace with a stop and go retrieve. She just may put it on you and make you put your bass gear down
