Down imaging question - 02/19/15 05:48 PM
For you guys with down imagining, do you have the transducer mounted inside the hull or on the transom? just got a new unit and cant decide where to mount it yet

From what I've heard thru the hull is no good.
Down image and or side image can not read thru hull. It must be mounted on transom, jack plate or trolling motor.....

On the hull. Only way to go on any transducer in my opinion. I would constantly second guess if I was picking up everything if it was shooting through the hull.

either on the TM or the transom, like SU&F said, they cant read through the hull.

As stated it must be transom mounted and level. Also make sure your lower unit won't be in the way if you have side image. If it is you may have to trim the lower unit up to get a good side image picture.
