Spawning Beds.....

With the 'Spawn' fast approaching, I decided to make up five of these 'Spawning Beds' and deposit in a local body of water.



A friend gave me the idea but wasn't as satisfied with the first design so started looking for a better base. Was driving up a local road when I spied 2 4' sections of this 12" plastic sewer pipe and decided to give it a go. Was easy to split in half and then drill to accept the PEX and bamboo. No weight was added but it sank like a rock and should stay put.

They are sitting in 4 - 5' of water and you can't see them from deck height. Will let you know how they work in the weeks to come.

On the boat ready for the ride to their new home.

I can really appreciate idea & premise but with all due respect Mr. BNitro, why would any Male Crappie choose this area to make a bed upon in your local body of water.There is nothing natural there for him to go through the rituals of preparation.I could see it maybe holding fish being possible habitat for them if there were several in an area but a SPAWNING BED,I would have to respectfully disagree.
