unknown waters and do it ourselves ....
nothing fancy just huntin down crappie ...

thump buddies
go go minnows
tbox baits
maybe EVEN a "feather " jig ....hint hint ...
or maybe a NEW bait so secret I kant tell times 3 ....
crappie thunder road runnerz
bobby garlands
etc etc
the works ...
if test baits come in before we leave I drop em ....
we will pick one of the hottest days this week ....
unfamiliar water ....1 trip or none .....
and see what we shall see ....

How about a tour of the Brazos? Possum Kingdom, Granbury and Whitney. Then there are two small city ponds 15 & 17 acres; Como and Echo lakes.

maybe we try a mud puddle or 2 along the way ....?

Echo lake and como are both in the hood. I wouldn't go to either without a chl holder with me.

Yall must live in ft worth...sure b fishin out west. That's like the great unknown to me.. grapevine is about as far west as I fish

well sir since we went one time and found crappie
then we went the second time and found crappie again
I would break my 1 visit or less rule ....
but we really enjoyed that little lake
so its on the board for sure ....
it was one of 3 of the lakes we discussed yesterday
the second lake gets almost no press
bin once and found a beautiful setting with hungry fish ...
the third lake isn't even on anyones map ..
I just hear stories from one or 2 about the very serious potential for a ....
dare I say it ....whale crappie !

I do have a bit of interest in droppin the "bird" on a few crappie

we do have a trophy lake on the map ....
mite ketch a reel whopper on one ....

we are somewhat kiddin roun on echo an como sir ....
but one never knows where we might end up ...
I think just about every water body in this state has a good number of crappie ....
we find them pretty easily on most waters here most of the time ....
some lakes have bigger fish
some lakes have more fish
some of the small city lakes seem to be the best places in fact
to find pretty good crappie ketchn ...

I don't think the world iz ready for us on the tv quite yet

besides then it gitz a bit more complicated ....
complications lead to frustrations ....
and we go to be less complicated ...
if ya git my drift sir ...

we want to go to lakes that are not on the map for large fish
especially west .....
the thought process is that really big fish only exist in east texas and we think this is true to some degree ....
but also we think there are a few whales west of 35 as well ...
and quite possibly south also ...

and give up our secrets ?

How about moss lake in Gainesville or arrowhead in Wichita Falls or lake jacksboro. I've fished all these lakes and they are all 3 good crappie lakes, jacksboro (old side) can be awesome.

Leon is awesome in winter but summer is another story!

as well as arrowhead ....

I have interest in leon as well .....
only in the summer bite ....
I hear its tuff in the summer to ketch biggunz there ...

It's a little further east but have you fished Lewisville?

have you fished Marine Creek?... I have heard it has some big ones in it. Would be a good challenge too

I would love to hear of someone catching Crappie out of Eagle Mountain, you don't hear of anyone catching a limit. I am sure they would have to be catch & release over there & Lake Worth.
Lake Worth has monster crappies, you just can't keep them.

Ketchn you are starting to remind me of someone over complicating things. Here's the big secret....ready? Just go fishing and have fun! The crappie are pretty much in the same locations and they relocate like those Winter Texans throughout the year. That is why the GPS locations are always covered up on those really nice pictures from those big screen graphs.

As for exposing...you reminded me of a scene from Ghostbusters 2.

i would like to start with a thanks to all that participated in the suggestions on lakes ....
several of those WILL be visited ....
well time is closing in on our attempt to locate a truly big whale of a crappie
think we need to try a spot that hasn't bin mentioned
we never made it there yet .....
heard from multiple sources 2 plus fish are the smaller size crappie in there .....
all Mohawks ...low numbers ...never stocked ....
really big brute size crappie fish ...
was told 3lb to 4 lb for sure ...
IF we kan find em ....
btw ...
n e thang oer 3 will be considered a whale until further notice
so let me ask the forum this ...
how kewl would it be if we broke the world record rite here in texas in public waters ?
or even possibly the state record
