If you want to just have some fun or take the kids
fishing grab an ultra lite rod with 6# line, tie on the smallest beetle spin they make and cast right up to the rocks at the big dam. Bluegills are stacked up there along with a few catfish, bass or sandbass.

You can also use a 1/32 oz jig with a small plastic body and catch them. I tied a tiny trout fly on as a trailor about 6" behind the jig and was catching them two at a time. A few are big too.

Experienced similar results 2 weeks ago using crankbaits. Even caught some nice crappie. Hits came on the pause. Kids keep asking to go back.

Well if they would let us sit on the rocks--I would be at the dam at Grapevine, considering I did not get any hits/thumps at all yesterday.

I don't think so. It would be behind a security fence.

I think you can access the old dam on Lewisville though. Not sure if the fish are biting there or not.

Some on the old dam, just not as many. the rocks don't extend out very far.
