Night fishing?

Night fishing? - 04/01/13 12:26 PM

So I just had a quick question on night fishing this time of year. Does night fishing work good right now or do they usually just bite mostly in the day time and shut down at night?

They definitely bite at night, maybe even better than daytime and possibly in shallower water.

As a rule I try to sleep at night and catch fish in the daytime. But I'm missing out on some great night time crappie fishing.

Depends sometimes they do and don't... Just like were you caught a mess yesterday on one pile doesn't mean you will ketch next day there.. You have to think outside the box try different things.. Seriously ... When you figure them out it's a nice feeling...

crappie are nocturnal feeders and they also like to do the spawn thing in low light ....

As a rule, I prefer to fish at night and sleep during the day!!! Usually, better Ketchn and less boat traffic...but not always....

When I was bringing in my boat yesterday at dark there were two guys sacking up the crappie in the shallows at Buck Creek landing on Ray Roberts. I was very jealous, as I only had the crappie that I caught at dusk before I tangled up all three poles hopelessly and needed to just go home.

Did catch a limit of sandies but my wife already cooked the three crappie and is nagging me for more.

You got that right Ketchn - 04/03/13 01:00 AM

Bugs make most people put in at dark.

I used fish at night was I was younger. I might give it a try again this summer when things slow down.

Pk, we're you in the big inflatable pontoon boat? I was in the CC that limped in with water in the gas..

That was me in the pontoon - 04/03/13 03:12 AM

Sad you had water in the gas. Had my own issue a few days back when I tied up on the dock and the wind blew the boat into an exposed nail. Fished the rest of the day with a Tear aide temporary patch over the hole.

With boats, its always something.

nails and inflatables do NOT go together....like water and oil....
