Which SD card is better for Lowrance Elite 5 DSI

Which SD card is better for Lowrance Elite 5 DSI - 03/01/13 11:36 PM

I recently purchased a Elite 5 DSI and am planning on buying a SD card to go along with it for crappie fishing. For those of you that have used them, which SD card is the best, the Navionics Platinum South edition or Lowrance Lake Insight Pro edition? The Navionics is about twice the price, is it worth the extra money over the Lake Insight Pro? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

If you're just after a blank Micro SD card for saving screen shots, waypoints etc, get a 2GB card as that's the maximum the unit will accept. As for mapping cards, I personally have the Navionics Premium South but I don't use it in my E5DSI as I felt it slowed the refresh rate down some. I keep my map card in my HDS8 and just rely on the "Insight" map that came on my E5DSI. It is nearly as detailed as the Nav. Pre. S. and the refresh rate is acceptable. There are those that prefer Lakemaster just like there are those that preferr Huminbird over Lowrance. To each his own. I for one will keep my Lowrance units (HDS8 Gen.2 w/LSS2, E5 Combo & E5 DSI) & my Nav. Pre. S. Just MHO.
