Brush Piles and Condos

Hi Fellow Anglers

I'm just curios...I see a lot of people dropping brush piles and condos in the lake. My main concern before I do the same is , is it legal to do so to drop them in the lake? Would that consider littering? I don't want to run to trouble with the law. I see a lot of nice brush piles and condos through TTF. I'm planning to drop them at Grapevine lake and Lake Lewisville. Any inputs will help. Thank you for reading.

I asked the same question of TPWD just yesterday. Their response was along the lines of it is not against the law. However, the Corps of Engineers is the controlling agency in the matter. Restrictions may vary from lake to lake. I haven't checked with the COE yet.

Like many others on here, I've put out my share here on Cedar Creek Lake and have never heard of anyone having any problems doing it. That doesn't mean it's approved, just that no one has had a problem to my knowledge. But, CCL is not a COE lake either.

I have had a few people taking pictures & video of us putting brush in Cedar Creek, I always wave for the picture. I do know that Chuck tells a story of some home owner on the lake that screams & hollers everytime they see him dropping brush. I like to do it early in the morning on a Sunday or night time just to keep a bunch of people from watching where we drop them. Like Bob said, that doesn't mean it's legal just because we haven't had any trouble. I guess what I am trying to say is, it's definitely legal if you don't get caught.

I have talked to a corp guy before and the main thing he told me was is that you are not suppose to put anything in a corp lake because the main purpose of the lake is for drinking water supply ....... BUT.... AS LONG AS..... the materials used are of natural nature then not much will be said. Meaning, sinking natural habitat like trees and such. What is frowned on and will get you in trouble is stuff like tires, old refrigerators, PVC pipe condos (ouch) and stuff that is not natural to nature. Bottom line though is that you "could" get fined for putting anyting in a corp lake.

You must get a permit from the Corp.to put structure in Navarro Mills.....

The other thing that the Corps frowns on is cutting trees on Corps land to make the pile. Not even a little bush. They will slap you down if they catch you doing that.

I Spoke with two TPWD officers and there answer was that the CORP has some Reservoirs are a No Go. But others Lakes they would watch for Tires, washing machiens, Dyres and etc. (Some idiots You Know) Other words no dumping of Trash. And as to Pvc and etc. it Should be Retractable made to retrieve. Even from what I've heard from the Horses mouth will not Stop me from Being Sneaky because you Might here TELL it To the Judge. You Know???
