King Skinner--2499 Pond

King Skinner--2499 Pond - 04/06/04 09:04 PM

Fished the pond on 2499 the past couple of years, but they have posted a No Tresspassing sign lately. You know, the one right before you get to the Home Depot.

Went down Silveron Rd. and a bridge goes over the creek that feeds the pond. No signs there, so I went there and caught 5 of those green trash fish up to 4 lbs., and boy did they fight hard.

Just curious if you know anything about the land? I am sure they are going to develop it in the next year, but that is a great pond with lots of structure. I also saw a broken crappie cane pole and wondered if the good fish were in there.

Thanks,

It's owned by a company out of California, don't think they are going to catch anyone or care if people fish it but you do have to jump a fence so you could get in trouble technically. Looks killer, but have only bass fished from the bank a few times, caught a few small ones, have seen 2 man boats and lots of bank fisherman in the past month and lots of trash, so someone is fishing it. According to the company trying to sell the land it is a natural lake so may not be very deep.

Thanks Goat, I have caught many healthy bass from there and it is a great lake. Lots of structure and the depth is about 5- 10 feet.

The water is very clear and the creek that feeds it is producing some big bass. All in the spawn right now with big bellies and red lips. Wonder if there are any Crappie there?

Where is this little pond you speak of? I'm in Lewisville and always up to find a new spot. How far north would you go on 2499 from 3040?

DH, wrong direction, south of 3049 about 3-4 miles. Its between the new Home Depot and Grapevine Mills. Easy to see on the east side of 2499. You will see lots of trees in the pond, it is a big pond or small lake, about 10-15 acres large.

If you go east on Silveron rd. , there is a bridge you come up too. I park there and walk down the creek, on the south side, which runs into the lake. Great fishing all the way down.

map it on yahoo and you will have no problem finding it.

Good Luck.

Great bass fishing!

WHAT WERE YOU USING TO CATCH THOSE TRASH FISH?

Black lizards are the only thing working in the spawn. Caught one on a shallow running crankbait, but year after year during the spawn, nothing but black lizards.

I've fished that pond for crappie maybe 5 times over the last two or three years. probably caught a total of 30 crappie. Ten or more of those were over 2lbs. None were under 1lb.

What pond? There's no pond there. Musta been moved recently. There's no fish in it. Don't know what you're talking about.

I hear that it's going to be a commercial development. Wonder where the deer will go when that happens. frown

I fished that pond legally back in the mid 90's when I was a Flower Mound Police Officer. Back then the same old man who had the cows on Spinks Rd also leased that pond and the land around it for cattle. I have not spoken to him in years and don't know if he still has the lease. But I do know if it is posted I would not fish there. I always used white mini spinners and would catch a 1lb bass on every cast. There are 3 great ponds north west of the fire station by the post office and they have bass over 12lbs in the middle pond and once again they are owned by the developer for that subdivision and I don't have permission to go any more and last time I saw it was posted also.

Did I let the cat out of the bag! Between Mr. Paty and his map faux pas and my post, seems like Mr. Skinner is getting nervous.

Sorry about that. Thanks for all your info. once again Mr. Skinner.

Passed the pond many times but never fished it. I also noticed the new posted signs. I'd be careful. Passed by yesterday and there was a cop car pulled in by the gate. Not sure what was going on but there was nobody in it. Went by too fast to see if he was out by the lake. Just an FYI
