Halbert has HUGE Crappie in it but unless you have a boat you can only find them off the long fishing pier in the colder months of the year. & you will have plenty of company! In the summer they will congregate in the northern end of the lake near the old wood pillings @ the dam in deeper waters. Those fish with the simi stripes on them will be close to the Concrete structure when they are pumping water in. I`ve caught some MEGAS over here to! The long Red line marks the old wood pillings at the dam face.
thanks for info , Fishbonz i will file this away, One of my fishn buds moved down in Red Oak, that will give us another option, I think i have been by it, maybe i does it have any coves to fish in cooler weather, cause the wind only gets crazy the day i wanna fish!!!!

Now you know
If it has huge crappie, does that mean it has a good supply of shad?
Unfortunately, It’s another lake that will be overtaken by geed and the dollar. They are starting to open up a development on the other side, selling lots, opening a boat marina, etc. That lake is way too small for the kind of boat traffic that will bring.

I DON`T see it! The only developing I`ve seen was the junction between hw 31 to I45 in the past few months. What side R U talking about?:"

I got a flyer in the mailbox the other day. I have already trashed it, but the lots were on water and off water. This is the link to what I got. Barefoot Bay on Lake Halbert

It’s across the lake from the pier and park areas, on the East bank. The development starts where old dirt road is and is being cleared from there almost to the new Hwy. 31 loop. I believe August 6th is the grand opening date to start selling lots. Unless they make this a no wake lake like Purtis Creek or restrict outboards to 10 mph, I don’t see how our small 600 acre lake can handle the added boat traffic this might bring.
Yes, Lake Halbert. A bit of history, There used to be a Lake Corsicana that backed up to Hwy. 31. When Richland Chambers filled up, it took up what was then Lake Corsicana. I wish the city had not sold it to the Tarrant County Water district for Richland Chambers. It was a great little lake. We used to catch Kentucky spotted bass there and there was also a good population of big crappie and sand bass from Chambers creek that emptied into it. They never maintained a decent or safe boat ramp and you would probably come back to no truck or trailer if you did launch there.
i saw the Land Sale signs yesterday. didn't realize it was that big. agree that lake is going to turn into a warm wave pool given how small it is. it has never been much for fishing. bet they sell out quick with all the money coming in from Dallas.
