Hot-Hot-Hot

Hot-Hot-Hot - 06/19/22 02:29 AM

Damn. Been a few weeks of family obligations but went out today. Ugh. With all the hot weather, it looks like water temps are basically in mid-July form. Ugh, will have to switch to minnows for next trip.

Rant over. Feel free to retort or show me different.

I will agree that water temps and the fish are more in a July pattern than June. Water temp at Cedar Creek is 82 degrees but I haven't had any trouble catching on jigs -- I haven't even had to downsize yet. Caught 21 yesterday morning in 1 hour 40 minutes, all on a Ghost minnow Thump Chubbie with 1/8 oz pink jig head. Kept 10 to make blackened fish tacos last night. I went out this morning and fished a different part of the lake and it was much slower and only caught 8 in 2 hours but they were all nice size -- around 13" -- all released.

Yup! Its hot hot. Downsizing jigs can help but I am going to take small minnows along too the rest of the summer. I prefer to be open minded and not restrict myself or my clients. Drink plenty of water and take a dip in the water if you can while out there, it really helps!

Good slabs and good food porn. Crappie is my favorite category.

Don't get me wrong, cleaned enough to have more than wifey and I can eat at one setting but its much tougher this time of year.
