Asking for a friend. So if you were sinking xmas trees, would weight em with cinder block, or mix up sackcrete. He is leanin toward blocks, they are cheaper than sakcrete( $5./a bag. Thanks for input

If he has boat carpet, tell him to keep the tree off of it if possible, because
I thought I’d never get all the small needles out.
Step 1, throw the Christmas trees away and get some willow or hardwood.

This! You will use alot more weight trying to sink dry Christmas trees and I never had much luck with them compared to anything else.

Look at that, Finally something we agree on.
Willow, hardwood or bamboo is way better than Christmas trees

Willow will last just as long as xmas trees. Xmas trees may be decent to attract black crappie sometimes. But when you're going to put in the work to put out trees, at least put out stuff that will attract crappie well. If xmas trees were all I had, I would spend the time looking for brush piles already in the lake and throw the xmas trees away. Hardwood of any type or willow is so much better. And small limbs with leaves will catch silt fairly quick and flatten on the bottom. Dead cedar will last a long time as will oak. And green oak sinks easy since it's not dry.

Take a chain saw cut big tree down on the bank drag it out to hot spot preferably drop off area sink it and you all set.
Bamboo or bois darc last forever, bamboo is easier to deal with though. Pvc condos are good too, they just won’t really show up on a side scan, but the fish will. Frankly it’s a whole lot easier to just scout a lake and find structure, crappie hold to a number of things, road beds, rock piles, brush piles, submerged timber, bridges, docks, I’ve even caught them on ledges. Most lakes have all kinds of structure in them and you just have to go find it.
