Struggling on Pines

Been on the water a few hours each of the last few days and haven’t boated many crappie. Watching other boats it seems everyone is having the same problem. A lot of folks are moving around trying to find the fish or a pattern.
The few I have caught thumped it hard.

I was out there around New years. Fish were on submerged timber across from Johnson creek. 20-28fow

Have never been on the Pines but on alot of lakes when we have these warm days, the shad move shallow and crappie follow. Ive been going thru this mayhem on my lakes too. going to the deeper winter haunts and they are gone..
I would try finding some shallow flats, points, shallow timber , ect and fish like your searching for springtime crappie.
I use a roadrunner in the small size. I change the blades out and put a french style blade on them. the french blade gives a unique pulse.
I use transluscent colors in pink, pearl, purple, lavender, ect.
cast the jig out, let it sink just a couple seconds, then start a steady retrieve, with rod tip high.. fan cast the area and vary retrieve speeds.
if you find they want a very slow presentation, put a bobber on and slow roll it back to the boat, or reel it, and stop it.
when these crappie or on flats feeding, dont expect to find them stacked up on cover or structure. your going to catch a few here, a few there
keep moving and probing. Dont get the idea that the fish HAVE to be deep right now. crappie can be almost anywhere, at any time of year if the oxygen level permits and there is a food source.
does Lake O pines have flocks of gulls or terns that follow the baitfish around? if so they can help u locate the shad and the crappie.
crappie will nail a jig just as agressively now, as any other time of year.
Ive been trying ALOT of different techniques this year and have been trying to read the lake conditions and patterns trying not assuming the fish will be deep all the time.
the fish could be in 35 feet of water one day and 2 feet the next. sometimes they are very easily spooked when feeding in shallow water, so stay back off of them when doing your searching.. the crappie are not the only fish searching the shallows for shad, and arent going to stay in one area too long with big catfish and largemouth roaming around the flats.
I have read that in winter alot of crappie stack up near the dam on pines.. the shad probably dont go too far from the dam, maybe look for shallow coves and shallow points near the dam.
I am not an expert on winter crappie fishing but Im learning .

Thats where I caught them but it's been a week or so since I've been over there.

I don't know how fishing pressure affects crappie but LoP gets hammered this time of year.
