Good Day On The Vine

Good Day On The Vine - 11/13/21 08:55 PM

David Goodson #shutupandfish and I fished Grapevine again today, and she didn't disappoint. The fish bit steady from 0730 until we left at 1330. Didn't keep count of how many we caught (60-70??) and kept 30 for another friend of mine. No really big fish, but lots of 12-14". And of course David had to show off by hooking, and playing for about 10 minutes, a 16# flathead catfish. The crappie are really schooling up now, with most any structure holding at least one school. Again, our color of choice was black/chart and white/chart, with white producing the best. All fish were caught 15-25 fow. Water temp was 61.

It has been a great time fishing with you on the vine the last few weekends. It is definitely on and should only get better.

David #shutupandfish and I made it back out to Grapevine today, thinking that the weather would be perfect, as the weather man said 5-10 mph winds. Well, once again it proves that you can be 100% wrong and still keep your job if you're a weather man. The morning started off good with light wind and several big crappie in the box within an hour. The it started blowing, and then blowing harder. Then white capping, and after that, if you got bit, you'd have never known it. But....we got to go fishing and that was the important thing as we all know that a bad day on the water is better than a good day at the office. All fish were released today to fight again.

My client got a limit today. As you said, we realized really fast, that it was going to be a bad wind day LOL. Seems like I saw less fish in general than I have

Yeah, we noticed the same, but as you know, this time of year, if you're familiar with GV, when you find em.....it's game on for some really nice size fish.

I went out today for a couple of hours to fish marina slips. Only fished with jigs and didn't get a bite. Black/chartreuse, monkey milk, white/chartreuse, white/blue back.....pink jig head, 1/8 ounce. Fished 8ft down to 16ft. Dead sticking and jigging....didn't seem to matter. Strong wind out of west/SW. 1pm-3pm. So there's a report on what NOT to do!!

With the fish in the mainlake like they are, it is not surprising the slips are not producing.
