Ray Roberts CAT Toury Results - 06/21/21 11:40 AM
Finally got to fish a CAT tournament this year. Ray Roberts tour was Sat, June 19. Weather was hot and so was the crappie fishing. RR is fishing really well this year with bigger fish than I can remember catching there. Of course, we don't fish RR very often but it's usually a dink fest. Pre-fishing Thur and Fri produced good numbers of fish and several over 1.25 lbs. Tournament day was slower and fish more finicky on the presentation.
There were 32 teams DIV II and 17 DIV I. Several fish over 2 lbs hit the scales which is unusual for RR. I don't recall many 7 fish limits over 10 lbs in the past but this time there were several over 10 lbs. And plenty of fish over 1.5 lbs. RR is known as a minnow lake but we had good success on jigs also. In fact on Thur seems the minnow places were out and we fished jigs all day with good success. Would have liked to have had the best 7 we caught on Thur for Sat morning. Probably had about 10.2 lbs. White/chart seemed to work best for us but a gray minnow imitation also worked well. Fish were caught in a lot of different areas of the lake but seemed to be holding on structure about 12-14 ft down in 15 to 25 FOW.
Congrats to all the teams. And to Sanders and Holleman for a great 12.22 lbs in DIV I for the win and to Payton and Coleman with a 10.94 for the DIV II win.
Big fish DIV I went to Hancock and O'Bier with a 2.18 and a whopping 2.24 for Cantrell and Dean in DIV II.
