Grenada lake report!! - 05/16/21 09:00 PM
Well ACT was pretty tough!! Lake was 7.5’ over pool and 9.5’ higher than last time we fished it. We went down a road bed in 8’ of water we saw people driving down last time! We fished a couple days and never found anything we were excited to fish. Pattern seemed to be catch one good fish in an area and load up and move 2-3 miles to catch another one. There’s miles of flooded brush for the fish to get in right now so we knew going in it would be tough. Last minute with an hour left to prefish we went down a stretch off the creek channel and stuck 3 over 2 pounds on my scale which is good this time of year there! We thought if they stayed put we could catch 16 pounds a day and be in the hunt but the fish had different plans! Friday we never saw a good fish! We did improve on Sat with 13.9 and ended up in 28th place! Not we tournament we hoped for but outside the last hour of prefishing I was wondering if we should come home and fish the CAT tourney on Palestine! Slab Syndicate hand ties in black and chart and silver and yellow on pink heads were the ticket! The steelhead hooks on those things are amazing!! I wouldn’t recommend using them on brushpiles unless you wanna pull up the whole pile! Off to Truman next month! Gonna be a first for us there but I’m excited. Been wanting to check it out for years!! Hats off to JJ and our boys Tim and Andre on 3rd. Like I’ve said before if you wanna be a good crappie angler I don’t know a better way than competition. There’s local and National trials all over the country. Look one up and get started! It’s addicting! Thanks to all the folks that make this journey possible! We couldn’t do it without y’all!!
