Water Wagon style kickboat - 04/23/21 01:07 PM

A member said I should post this here. I have a kickboat Water Wagon style I built in the classified for sale if anyone wants to look. I’ve built at least a dozen and wife said no more unless I sell one. It’s a sickness.

I think you have perfected the building process. Great looking boat on a proven design.

Cool project. Have you or your buyers been successful in registering in Texas as a homemade boat so you can get TX numbers, title, registration, etc.?

I recently registered a boat and I also got the paperwork to register it as home made. You fill it out and get a appointment to be inspected at tpwd and pay the registration fees. (Easier than a non title boat for sure). Pretty straight forward it seems. I have the paperwork still. The other kick boats did not have a motor mount so registration was not required. You only have to register and title them if you use them on public waters with a electric or gas motor. I’m building another after I sell this one and yes I’ll title it as home made.

Styrofoam no. Started as 2”/4’/8’ foam insulation board. Fiberglass and resin? No. Poor mans fiberglass. Pretty durable. Weight capacity unknown. I’d guess 300 lbs. I’m 240 and no way I could sink it if I wanted too.
