RC CAT Recap!!!

RC CAT Recap!!! - 04/19/21 07:06 PM

Trying to get caught up at the office today so I haven't had time to post up yet! Richland Chambers has been our nemesis so it felt good to finally get the win there! Only got one day to prefish between me and Clay we both went over on Thursday. He hit the Chambers arm and I hit the Richland arm. I drew the short straw as the E wind had that entire arm pretty much blown out and I just shot docks in any coves I could get out of the wind in! We caught lots of fish on Shadow Boy and Ghost minnow thump chubbies but ended the day with 10.41 on my scale, and I knew that wasn't going to get it done. Clay fished some out of the wind timber on the Chambers arm in 12-16' of water and had 11.64 so that was our plan come tourney day. We ended the day with 11.79 on our scale. I felt like we needed another 1/2 pound honestly to have a shot. I figured we would be somewhere around 12.30 on the CAT scale and we had 12.29. Shockingly that was enough with the wind. The fish there look as healthy as any I've ever seen from RC and most our fish haven't spawned there yet. Tourney day in timber we used 1/8 and 1/4 oz Slab Syndicate hand ties in Black and Chart and Purple and Chart. Tipped sometimes with a minnow. Pitching jigs to fish with Jenko KR signature series rods.

I don't have any current availability until mid June but have contemplated having a cancellation list. If you would like me to keep your number on hand and give you a call when I have last minute cancellations let me know! Area lakes are fishing good and should only get better! My clients have pulled limits off Palestine and Pines both in the last week. June is an awesome month to catch crappie so don't let the heat scare you off! Thanks for all the support!

Also want to thank the CAT board! They have done an amazing job and it’s awesome seeing all the new faces at tournaments! Palestine is the next qualifier and it will be great! I’m gonna miss it chasing post spawn 3 pounders in the bushes but somebody has to do it!! fish

For the win!! Cool seeing these tournament results that you post. It is something to work up to. I’d have to spend way more time and money to compete with these big guns. Keep us updated on the CAT trail.

They have 2 divisions. One is open and the other is for folks starting out to get their feet wet or people that don’t want to compete on an open field level. IMO nothing will make you a better crappie angler than competition. Forces you to learn new bodies of water and techniques you may not be used to! You might be surprised how you would do. Come see us sometime! The board does a great job and has been great watching the sport grow. thumb
