With the mild winter.... - 01/23/21 08:13 PM

Has anyone caught any crappie staging in 8'-12' of water yet.

I know it's really early but sometimes crappie do crazy things.

I keep on hearing its been a mild winter. Been pretty cold to me for the last 2 months LOL. I haven't caught any staging fish yet but have noticed not as many fish in the winter spots. I am thinking they are in transition to their pre spawn areas.

We caught some with egg sacs starting to form about a month ago. Haven’t fished since then due to covid, first my fishing partner, then me.

We caught some with egg sacs starting to form about a month ago. They were in 20 fow, but that’s about the deepest that lake gets. Haven’t fished since then due to covid, first my fishing partner, then me.

Based on the 10 day forecast, the mild winter may be wishful thinking.

Same here. With the 4" of snow we received, water temps dipped to the upper 40s. Water temps in central TX in the upper 40s is cold indeed.
