CAT Tournament on Pines

CAT Tournament on Pines - 01/09/21 03:01 PM

I'm thinking about coming down for the LOP tournament. Probably be fishing by myself. Will I just have to be careful what fish that I target so that I don't have to quit after 25?

That's a good idea if you have livescope. fish
You only need 7 good ones.

We are thinking of fishing this event. Driving over from Fort Worth on Thursday night and prefishing Friday. Any body know of a good place to stay where the boat will be safe at night? Don't need anything fancy

Be careful out there Friday! Gonna be sporty! Bullfrog is about the only place I recommend. 903-755-2712.

Several folks stay at the place at the bridge on 155 also but I don't know the name of it offhand. Its only about 1.5hrs from me so we usually drive back and forth unless it's a 2 day tournament. Should be a great tournament on an awesome lake!!!

Don’t forget to bring your kite 🤪
It was brutal today and tomorrow ain’t looking any better.
I believe Saturday will be like it was today.

Can someone please remind me why I do this?

This ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Water coming over the bow makes for a brutal day! LOL
I hope the forecast is a little closer to the actual conditions Saturday. Might not have to be strapped in the seat then.

Bullfrog Marina, without a doubt, never had any issues while I stayed there with my boat. Not many cabins, but they're literally just feet from the ramp. And the price is good.

Paul Obier proves again while he's the best in Texas! His suggestion for Jan on LOP was don't go! roflmao

NW wind in winter on LOP is brutal. Anything over 6mph is gonna be a grind IMO! Little man said he's sleeping in tomorrow, told us to have fun!!! hammer

Congrats to Dan and Kale for an awesome win on a brutal day of fishing! Biggest turnout in CAT history. 59 teams between the 2 divisions. 27 in D1 and 32 in D2. So awesome to see competitive crappie fishing growing in Texas! We managed 3rd place with 13.74 and second in the crappie masters side pot. We lost a few fish today and that probably hurt us some but we were happy to have what we had! LOP crappie are scattered and spooky! I’ve had to cancel or reschedule my last 4 trips there! Got out some Thursday and wasn’t excited but was hoping it was the wind that had em spooky. They just aren’t many around and they’re real spooky!! Still a fun day. Cudos to the CAT board for another awesome tournament!

Look forward to Sandlin!

That 2.97# fish may be big fish of the year!!! Congrats to all who fished the tourney in these conditions!

Re: CAT Tournament on Pines - 01/17/21 02:47 PM

It was our first ever tournament and I must agree it was brutal. We felt good getting the four fish we got. We have no doubt we could have had 7 but with water coming over the front and our feet wet we decided it was better to fish kinda out of the wind. We caught our two big fish right away and tried toughing it out, but it just wasn’t worth it to us old guys.

Yes sir! Gonna be tough to beat but the next 2 tourneys will give it a run! Sandlin in Feb and Fork in March! With the new big fish pot that fish paid $500 and if it holds up another $500 for big fish of the year and an a mount! How awesome is that! Payouts were awesome yesterday!

Thanks for all you do for CAT Bill! I need to get another fish headed your way. Now is the time to do it for sure!

Awesome turnout; good to see so many new names on the leader board. Crappie fishing is growing and doing well. Weather conditions made it tough; hope the teams come back for more tournaments.

Thanks to the CAT Board for a great tournament.

Slewfoot, I sent you a PM. Congratulations to everyone who fished in the less than desirable weather. LOP can be a beast with the wind coming down the gut like it was. Also congratulations person who caught the 2.97# fish, well done.
