Lake Fork Report!!

Lake Fork Report!! - 05/26/20 04:01 PM

Been covered up with work and fishing so finally getting around to making a report! Ran 2 half day trips over the weekend and managed a good cooler of fish both days! First was Keith and his son Logan and as has been every day I’ve been on Fork this May the wind blew much harder than expected. Unable to fish what I wanted we ran back up plans on some other stuff targeting mostly submerged timber and managed a respectable 47 fish throwing back fish we had to measure. They picked up Livescope really quick and our Jenko rods and hand tied jigs in Shad color and white and chart on 1/8oz Limits Tackle jig heads put all these fish in the boat. If your looking for great jig heads give Steve a call.
The rods can be purchased from Frank at Lake Side Lure and Tackle. I pair mine mostly with Abu Garcia Black Max baitcasters and 10lb Seguar Invisix line, Frank sells these reels cheaper than Walmart and Academy and your supporting a local business. Staying off the structure and pitching the jig to the fish was key! We finally called it a day stopped for BBQ at the trailer there on 515 by the Hootens storage units. If you haven’t tried it give em a shot! The Dude with jalapeño cheese sausage and brisket has become my after fishing treat as of lately!

Sunday I had Tim and Denise onboard and they too managed to box up 42 before we had enough of the wind and sun! Lay downs and submerged bois d arcs and some brush put fish in the box today. Caught some tipping the jigs with minnows as well. Thank all of y’all for fishing with me! Hope y’all had a great Memorial Day. If your looking for a guided crappie trip on Fork, Palestine, Tawakoni, or Pines give me a shout. I have 4 weekend dates left in June. 13, 21, 27-28 and can work in a couple weekdays as well!

PS: don’t forget to wear your sunblock and reapply throughout the day!

Todd - I sure hope your top (or your undies) didn't match your shoes in that 2nd picture! That could be very distracting while fishing. bolt

Logan and I had a great time, and learned a lot about the Live Scope. Todd is an awesome guide, I won't hesitate to book him again. Logan and I are both peeling today after the sunburn we got. We did apply sunscreen, but should have reapplied a couple of more times during the day.
