Aquilla 5-18-2020

Aquilla 5-18-2020 - 05/18/20 11:31 PM

Got out again this morning. Started at 7:00 and left at Noon. Had my limit at 9:00. All the same as the last couple of times. Water temp was right at 73 degrees. I haven’t spent much time on the timber as the brush has been so good. I always give it a peak on the way to the brush. Pulled one nice one right off the bat from it. Moved over to a brush pile that has been on fire and pulled 24 in an hour and a half. Then just piddled around until about noon. Trying to get a 2lber. I meet Billy Kinder at the ramp this morning. He parked next to where I was getting Ole Yellow ready and he came over and spoke with me for a little bit. Really nice guy. Very nice day to be out. The boat traffic is getting back to what you would expect on a weekday.

1/4 oz unpainted with a dark body chartreuse tail, then switched to solid chartreuse body. It was one of Lane Palmers baits and I must have caught 40 fish on it! It is still hanging in there and will be used again!

Boat traffic is better but that lake has been mostly empty for the last few years. Nice trip, made an evening run and brought back a few dinners.

This is kinda creepy Rods, but I was at Navarro Mills not too far away, started on black body chartreuse tail, then switched to Lane's Thump Chubby in almost solid chartreuse but a bit of white up top. Hah! I feel smarter for using the baits you did! LOL!
Nice haul good sir. I limited out but it took me a lot longer.

Great catch! Keep up the good work. Those crappie are going to run and hide soon when they see yellow coming.

I think that`s what happened on lake Bardwell ! roflmao He has terrorized the Crappie community on that lake to where many spawns,Moons& generations will have come to pass before they no longer fear the legend of the YELLOW boat. bow_down

We are trying to learn Aquilla. When you say brush piles where would we find these on the lake?

There are numerous piles all over the lake. You’ll need to use your electronics to find them. Around main lake humps, drop offs at main lake points to name a couple of areas. I’ve found them anywhere from 7-25’ of water, and every depth in between. I’d tell you to get the TPWD fish habitat coordinates for Aquilla but I did and didn’t find anything at those spots to fish!

Man Rods, I thought I was going CRAZY! I went to every one of those locations on the TPWD site, uploaded all those coords in the main finder, and NOTHING! I literally thought I was going insane. Since then, I have been marking my own. Thank you for letting me know I'm not crazy!

I have seen the TPWD structure around the bridge and out from the ramp as well as the mouth of one cove. They are there
