Aquilla 4-8-20

Aquilla 4-8-20 - 04/09/20 07:02 PM

Finally got to Aquilla yesterday. On the water at about 7:45am. First fish was a dink in about 10 ft of water just off of some brush. Went to some standing timber but it was to shallow for me. Loaded some of the TPWD waypoints in my Lowrance and went looking. These were for the West Arm around the hump. Caught a couple including the BF of the day @ 1.43. 1/8th yellow jig head from BoneHead Tackle with black & chartreuse body. Caught numerous small fish. Moved over by Dairy Hill ramp and punched in some more TPWD coordinates and found a few. Was moving around and bumped a submerged tree. I remember what Fishbonz told me he was doing so I turned the Livescope on it and it was loaded! Caught 10 or eleven in about an hour before it slacker off. This was right around noon. Fished some more of the coordinates before calling it a day at 4:00pm. Ended with 17 keepers. Also caught 4 sandbass out of the timber. One drum that went about 3.5 off the hump. Water temp was 65 degrees. 2 off the crappie were spawned out. 3 male and the rest were full of eggs. [Linked Image]

Sorry, never made it past the bridge at Old School ramp. I believe the lake is right at normal pool so the creek should be fine. What are you after, if you don’t mind me asking? And are there more than one creek to fish? Aquilla is new to me and I don’t know much about it.
Thanks, RODS454

With all do respect most people don’t want to give out their spots I know I don’t. I have invested a lot of time and money to learn what I have learned. Now I’m not saying Fishing friends or the forum hasn’t helped me along the way , but man asking someone to jump on your boat and teach you is really reaching and please don’t take me wrong as most do. I just tell it like it is. It seems you have all the tools to get it done so take some pride and go figure it out. Watch some you tube vids etc. Also I’m sorry but if you have livescope there should be no excuses on finding fish and catching. Good luck and happy fishing.

This is what I used. Put the coordinates in your graph and go to them. I don’t know the lake at all. It was only my second time ever being there. Standing timber is everywhere and most that I saw had fish on it. Livescope is definitely the ticket.

That`s EXACTLY what I did when I started fishing this lake! I loaded those Coordinates on to my unit and went a lookin & I caught fish. The coords were ok but I have to admit I caught bigger fish on stuff that I discovered. My PB for Aquilla was a 2.08 that came from a single tree stump off to it`s self. I only fished it because I listened to a tip from mr. S.K. on one of his You Tube Vids.I didn`t even see any fish on my electronics but I took a chance, dropped a 1/8 oz jig and got THUMPED! Thank YOU S.K. thumb I think the record Crappie for the lake is only 2.21!! Don`t be afraid to put in the work guy`s you could end up in the BOOK coolio

Not taking you wrong, you took me wrong, so I'll humor your post and explain what I meant..... Teaching me the lake .... RODS was kind enough to share "west arm around the hump". Hell I don't even know what "The Hump" is. I didn't ask for coords, I didn't ask for anyone's spots, in my mind, since I fish alone quite a bit I was inviting someone to fish and share what "the hump" is, some details about the lake and terminology. I don't ask for people's honey holes, sir.
