Fork was producing some big fish late last year. That 3 lb mark may be in jeopardy. banana

wouldn't doing this during spawn significantly help in depleting the crappie population?

No fishing pressure on a 27k acre lake is going to have any effect on the population ever IMO! It's a great time!! I even beat my kid! Once!!! roflmao

Majority of the fish caught on tournament day will go right back in the lake. This tournament you only weigh 1 fish. Also at the weigh in there will be a live release tank for the fish that were weighed and those fish will be returned to Fork.

Planning on fishing it for my first time this year. Was actually going to last year but that wind forecast kept me away.

We have a new Monster Crappie Bonus sponsor this year - SeaArk Boats!! If you are looking for a crappie boat, these guys can get you fixed up!! If everything fall into place, we should have at least one, but hopefully three, SeaArk crappie boats for you to look at during the weigh-in!! Thanks to SeaArk for their support!!

YOU DO NOT WANT TO MISS THIS TOURNEY!!!
No other tournament format gives EVERYONE that fishes a chance to win big!
Not a serious crappie guy? No problem
Not familiar with Fork? No problem
No boat? No problem
Every year someone that's a novice, or in a kayak, or whatever, will finish in a top spot.
People also overlook the "Closest to" weights.
Closest to 1.00, 1.25, 1.50, 1.75, & 2.00 could all win $500!
Oh, and did we mention that $25 of the entry fee goes to the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition? A great cause! thumb

Re: 2020 Crappiefest March 28, 2020!!! - 02/25/20 01:53 AM

And everybody weighing a fish gets one of those "golden tickets" worth $1,000. If you miss the big fish payout or that closest too weight,
you still have a chance at $1,000 banana
give me a ticket clap

The weigh-in is at Rains High School!!! We've made that change in the rules!!! Sign-ups are at Lake Fork Trophy Lures and Weigh-in is at Rains High School!!

Just a reminder to all - Please read the 2020 Crappiefest rules carefully. We've made some changes to them for 2020. First, CRAPPIEFEST WILL BE A SINGLE POLE TOURNAMENT ONLY. You can have 2 baits on your line and still use live bait - but only one pole per person. Also, the state of Texas has made it mandatory that you use your boat kill switch. If you don't have one, or yours doesn't work, you'll need to get it fixed before this tournament!! These will both be questions on the polygraph, as well as others, so please review the rules carefully!! We want everyone to be eligible for the BIG MONEY!!! You can also read the rules at www.crappiefest.com.

Looks like they changed the weigh in location.

I may enter this just for fun and see if my daughter wants to join.

We did not change the weigh-in location. The rules are incorrect and we are fixing them. The weigh-in is at Rains High School.

I hate to be that guy...

Jaydon, seeing that several tournaments have been cancelled thanks to the announcement of the "50 person rule" Friday night by the CDC and president Trump...please tell me we ain't gonna cave.

Really, I just need to cancel the 4 cabins I have rented at Popes if the tournament is going to be cancelled.

2020 CRAPPIEFEST POSTPONED – TENTATIVE NEW DATE MAY 23, 2020

As the Corona Virus has spread, Jay, Rhonda and the Crappie Anglers of Texas’ Board of Directors have all been in close contact while monitoring the situation. We wanted to make the best decision based on all the facts. Our first, and utmost concern is for our anglers, volunteers and the community.

Fact 1 – The CDC came out with a statement yesterday that said:

Guidance as of 3/15/2020
Large events and mass gatherings can contribute to the spread of COVID-19 in the United States via travelers who attend these events and introduce the virus to new communities. Examples of large events and mass gatherings include conferences, festivals, parades, concerts, sporting events, weddings, and other types of assemblies. These events can be planned not only by organizations and communities but also by individuals.
Therefore, CDC, in accordance with its guidance for large events and mass gatherings, recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizers (whether groups or individuals) cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States.
Events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing. When feasible, organizers could modify events to be virtual.

Fact #2 – If Rains ISD extends their closure to March 27th, or even later, we would not have access to Rains High School. Currently, they are only closed through the 20th, but the general consensus is that it will be extended.

There are many other reasons why this is the right answer, but these two facts cannot be overcome. No one knows what will happen over the next days, weeks or even months. We were hoping this would blow over quickly and we could have the tournament as scheduled. We’ve done a great deal of work to put this event together, so hopefully we can have the tournament on May 23rd.

If you have already paid your entry fee, and would like a refund, please contact Eric Walker at cattreasurer11@gmail.com. Otherwise, your entry fee will be applied to the May tournament.

We are sorry for the inconvenience and we are as disappointed as each of you are. Stay tuned for updates on the tentative May tournament and stay vigilant during these hard times.
