Livescope Question

I have a livescope question. When you look at your screen with the scope looking forward. You see a tree. on the tree there is a limb. You know left on the screen is closer to me and right is farther away. The screen shows the limb on the right side of the tree. Where is the limb? is it on the back side of the tree? If so am I looking through the tree? Is it on the right or left of the tree?

Here’s the best way I can answer that. If you find a tree or pile or something on your scope. Turn your transducer both directions. You will see it even when the transducer is swung to the left a ways, and to the right a ways. However, where your returns are the brightest is the true direction of said object. You can try to do the same with that limb.

I have done this, and it will tell you which direction limbs are, or which direction a lay down goes, etc.

Example, your boat is pointing north (12:00 o'clock), trunk of tree is right in front of you.

Transducer pointed forward (north, 12:00 o'clock), you will see limbs pointing north from trunk (right side of screen), and limbs pointing south of trunk (left side of screen). You will not see limbs pointing east and west.

Now turn transducer right 90 degrees (East, 3:00 o'clock), now you will see limbs pointing east from trunk (right side of screen), and limbs pointing west of trunk (left side of screen). You will not see limbs pointing north and south.

So you can see through a solid object?

Using same example, transducer pointed forward, and you see trunk on right side of screen, trunk of tree is in front (north) of transducer. If you see it on left side of screen, it is behind (south) of transducer. If in center, it is right in the middle.

Now same tree, point right 90 degrees (east). You see trunk on right side of screen, trunk of tree is in right (east) of transducer. If you see it on left side of screen, it is left (west) of transducer. If in center, it is right in the middle.

So if you point forward, it is in center, you point right and is in center, that tree is right under the transducer.

Yeah it’s magic.

Tree in center, if you have it pointed forward, you see jig right on screen, you are dropping jig north of tree, you see on left, you are dropping jig south of tree. Turn right to 3:00, you see jig on right side jig is east of tree, on left is west of tree.

That’s why if you see a fish or tree, and you want to place jig right on it, you got to point forward check jig north/south placement , and right and check east/west placement relative to fish or tree.

I can. Most people can’t, but I can.

I hope these don't become necessary to catch fish. I'm just getting average at finding a pile after I marked it the day before.
