Lake Leon

Lake Leon - 06/25/19 04:25 AM

Well, I’ll be honest, I’m a trash fisherman at heart (bass) but my dad loves to crappie fish. Lake Leon is about half way for each of us so that’s where we are meeting for a weekend father/son trip.

I’m not looking for coordinates, but if anyone has any advice (docks? Trees? Brush piles?), I’m all ears.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Standing Timber east of Ckalk a block boat ramp. It is in about 18-24 foot of water, docks toward the dam.

Does anyone know if the road over the dam is open? I will also be on Leon for the first time Sunday. Looking at the map, I was planning to launch at the dam.

The dock at La Mancha is very good for crappie. Only bad part is it cost $5 per person. Unless you rent one of the cabins. I like to take my boat and fish under the docks. That being said, remember Leon is very high right now, so it will probably be very muddy as most all the lakes west of Ft Worth are very muddy, makes fishing for crappie kind of hard.
