Pretty sure people needing a guide will avoid these 3 like a plague. More $$$$ they will lose and don't ya know their families and friends are disappointed. flush_2

Thats a purdy good hit, plus what TPWD will charge them for civil restitution fees...I doubt if it happens again!

They likely figured the odds of getting caught and the actual fines, then decided the risk/reward ratio was worth it from a business stand point. I would have liked to see them permanently DQ’d from any fishing/hunting license issued by the state of Texas.

What a joke for such a flagrant violation of the regs. mad

While $2700 isn't chump change it was a slap on the wrist overall.

Poor judgement by the judge to give them the minimum considering they are guides and they were under investigation which makes me believe this was not the first time they did this. Clients should be fined also. I hope TPWD steps up and the restitution fines are stiff enough to bring true justice. Hope this case introduces a law where the guides also lose their license for a minimum of a year

I think they should never be able to guide again

just abt every service performed in texas is regulated by and overseen by the govt, from barbers, to auctioneers, to plumbers, to hvac contractors to electricians.
There are NO requirements whatsoever, and no oversight whatsoever to become a licensed freshwater fishing guide in the state of texas.. just go down to the local wallmart or academy, present your drivers license, passport, greencard, whatever you have , pay the fee, I think its abt 150.00 and PRESTO. !!!!
your in bidness.. congrats!!!
No insurance requirements, no background checks, no experience required... hell they dont even ask if you have a boat , much less a safe one.

career criminal, convicted felon, new boat owner..,,not cpr certified, cant swim, bad heart, cant see, no matter. your in !!!
ALL ABOOOARD!!!! haha

Who in the world needs 608 crappie? I get that there were 12 people but still. At what point do you just say "done"?

Surprised their boats and gear weren't confiscated.

Sounds like a typical first time egregious violation remedy. Next time for those guides will be brutal, though.

they got off to easy, shouldn't be allowed to be a guide or buy a fishing license.

Yup way too lenient in my opinion.

What happened to consequences for your actions.

First offense? This was most likely the first time they got caught doing it.

Your either an honest individual and follow the rules or your not.

It's called Integrity.

We were not talking off by a couple of fish either.

Really disappointing.

Equipment should have been confiscated and they should have lost their fishing license and been banned from ever being allowed to guide again.

If you dont want to do the time then dont do the crime.

Consequences for your actions.

Well, they know where the fish are. Wonder if they'd do a discount trip now.
