Cedar Creek Crappie Holes

Cedar Creek Crappie Holes - 07/10/18 03:49 PM

My dock sits at the mouth of an inlet in about 5ft of water. The middle of the channel(10 yards from my dock) is about 8ft.
If I put cedar trees and brush under my dock, will it hold Crappie in the spring time?
I know its too shallow for summer crappie as they are in deeper water where it is cooler.

anyone know?

thanks!

JMO but in the spring the fish are really there for the dock and the brush I don't think would make much of a difference. Does your dock usually hold fish in the spring?

It's a little on the shallow side, would be hit or miss. If you don't catch a crappie on the dock at all putting brush there wouldn't really help.

Your dock is about like mine at c.c .Bamboo, cedar ,chairs, ectwill hold more fish than a bare dock.more shade, bait, and
moss.fish willbe back when the temps drop.late fall ,winter and spring should be the best..

welcome Build it and they will come. I had a place at cc in back of a cover where when the lake was full it was only 5' deep in the channel. I kept it brushed out and caught crappie every spring. PS IT WILL ALSO BRING IN THE BASS FISHERMAN. fish

I caught quite a few crappie in March. it slowed down in April, and have not caught a crappie since! I catch a good number sandbass at night under the lights still though.

Should I put cedar trees under the dock, or will any brush limbs work?

Cedar trees and hard wood limbs such as oak or pecan will work pretty good. I prefer using bamboo and willow if I can get them.
