Lewisville is hot

Lewisville is hot - 06/18/18 06:54 PM

Fishing and the weather. Fished five days last week and averaged 80-90 Crappie per day by 10 AM.
About half were big keepers. All on brushpiles in 14'-18' deep water on most any jig fished just over the brush.

Gotta love Lewisville this time of year. May head out there later this week if the wind allows.

Grab,
If you have a graph on your boat, they're not hard to find. Look in water depths of 12-20'. For more specific information, please PM me.

Crappie info is hard to come by on Lew. I'm not trying to be a potlicker and get a 25 fish limit when I go to fish. I am perfectly happy with catching 3-4 good sized ones for the fryer. If I am trying to go for quantity, I'm going after White Bass

Was out there today from 6-11a. Fish were few and far between on the little elm bridge the tollbridge was overrun with dinks. Did catch a nice bunch of crappie of good size off of timber but you had to work the tree until you found that area about the size of a basketball that had a fish or two. They seemed to shy away from colored jig heads. Started getting bit when downsized to 1/16 plain jighead.
The drum were thick today.

We fished mid-lake today in 30'-40' deep water. Caught about 60 total with 23 nice keepers. Used 2" to 3" plastic bodies on 1/4 oz jig heads. Fish were suspended about 20' down on submerged timber. No Drum but had to fight off sandies at times.
Got hot and quit at 11:00 AM.

Glad to hear some of folks are catching. Fished Lewisville on Saturday when the wind was so high, but was fishing east of the Little Elm bridge to try and stay out of the rough water. Not a bite, used minnows and jigs. Think I used almost every jig and color combo in the tackle box without getting a single thump. Decided it just wasn't my day and headed to the house around noon.

1/4 oz hand tied seem to be the key right now for me.
I am catching 3-1 vs plastics, or hand tied 1/8 oz.
1/4 oz Chartreuse head (with baked in UV Blast clear coat), chartreuse body, and chartreuse feathers with greenish krystal flash are very hot, and have been everywhere I fish. My slip, Brushpiles on old dam, big cut, and even the Tollbridge. Seems they are loving the fast fall of the 1/4 oz jighead on a #1 or #2 hook.

I struggled on Thursday. I thought about fishing that area Ernest but just couldn't convince myself to and it sounds like I should have went out there. Fished 25 trees and caught fish on 1 and fished a couple of piles and caught a few but nothing crazy. It didn't help that it was hot and there was not much wind (those kind of days tend to be the toughest for me).
Went to another lake on Friday and struggled even more even with minnows. EVERY pile was loaded but the fish were just inactive and would flat out not bite. The few I did catch were on minnows.

Hey old timer (Ernest). I totally missed the Spring bite due to all going on at the house and work. I definitely need to get back to the slips so this weather geek can decompress and have a small fish fry for the family. Glad to hear it's picking up!
