There are very few 'perfect' crappie rods for 'a tight budget', but if you can afford $40 - $65, the Crappie Max at Bass Pro ($40) or the Pro Angler (on line $65) would both be good choices. Be careful of the physical light weight, low cost rods, as the only way that they can be manufactured is to make the walls thinner and are more prone to breakage. Just my
I have fished all three rod brands referenced here for extended periods...in that price range, my preference (in order of preference, including price). Is the Crappie Max, the Proangler, and the ACC. The determining factor on all three rods came down to balance point first, condition of my arms/wrist/elbows/shoulders after a day of fishing with them, second; and price, third. That said, other than the ACC which I gave to a fishing buddy, I still have one of each that I dust off occasionally, when my fishing style for the day, and the rods specific purpose collide.
