Just wondering if anybody pulls cranks here in Texas and have any luck. I know it’s big in Mississippi and they have a lot of success with it. Thinking about giving it a try. Any suggestions from anyone?

I'm sure it would work here. Pick a lake that doesn't have allot of stumps or underwater obstacles or grass. Line counter reels would probably be the biggest cost to pursue it. Flats that have a common depth would be beneficial. Either use allot of fuel or have some tough trolling batteries to make it though the day.

I have allot of success putting out bamboo tops and catching Crappie out of them. They last about 3 years and I usually catch 70 to 100 fish and keep a dozen per trip. Side imaging has changed crappie fishing forever.

If fish were harder to find or more scattered I would pursue it.

I have been known to do it to locate new fishing areas pre-hummingbirds...or when trolling by core BPs when they wouldn’t take it any other way...

Have family back in Mississippi that are really big into it and spider rigging, have went with them several times and the only time I think it would be worth it is winter on lakes where they school up in open water
Rest of the year give me a good sonar unit and a jig pole and I'll have a limit of good crappie before them almost every time, most of the lakes I fish they spend more time hung up than fishing
