Well WT Heck Just Happened...

Well here we are almost 6 weeks after Dads surgery and everything was progressing just great.

He has felt great (best he has felt in 15 years) and wanted to go catch Crappie.

Things could not have been going any better.

Last night he tells my mom he doesn't feel well and he is going to go lay down around 7pm.

She strolls into the bedroom around 12:15am to find my dad on the floor shivering.
He has no idea how he got there or how long he has been there. He had been vomiting.

She helps get him up and to the shower with the help of a walker.
Once in shower he collapses. She gets him up and he is having trouble moving his legs.
She gets one foot out of shower goes to get the second foot and he falls backwards collapsing in the shower and cutting his foot open.

My mom calls 911. It took three Paramedics to get him up off the shower floor.

He was brought to hospital at 12:30am last night. They have been running tests all day.

He currently has Sepsis and pneumonia. He is still in ER because hospital has no beds.
He is on vancomycin the strongest antibiotic we have.

I'm with him in ER and he is running a fever.

All I can say is it's truly jaw dropping how you can go from fine to WT heck just happened.

This Sepsis truly concerns me. I hope we can get a handle on it.

We can use all the prayers we can get.

They are saying all of this has nothing to do with his surgery.

Anyway just wanted to keep the TFF family in the loop.

Finally got him into a room at 8:30pm tonight. He had been in ER since 12:45am last night.

He is on 4 different kinds of Antibiotics.

Hopefully will get some answers tomorrow on the game plan.

I've been there at the ER since he was brought in and finally came home to get a little bit of sleep.
He was ready for some himself tonight.

I’m sorry to hear this news. I hope they do him right at the hospital and that he has a speedy recovery! He will definitely be in our prayers as will you and the rest of your family. If you need anything please let us know!

I sure understand this, as my Dad has been deathly ill all fall. One doc told him he had bone cancer. The onocologist did tests and we found out he didn't have cancer after all. When I visited him he was so pale I doubt he will look worse when he's dead and gone in his casket. He always told me " don't wait around for your golden years. They ain't that great."

He's a gamer praying that he's up and and around in short order.

Hate to hear this Schmidty. Hope there are some answers soon. Pneumonia can cause a sepsis infection. I do hope this isn't related to the surgery.

Update #2:

They think the Pneumonia caused the Sepsis. He is on 4 different Antibiotics.

Doctor came in around 5:30 pm and decided to switch him over to oral Antibiotics and discharge him. Say what?

While I know my father is happy to be out of there and I am happy to have him back at his home...I really hope this was not a premature move by the hospital.

I know the insurance companies are pushing to get folks out quick as possible. They need the beds etc. I get it.

I know first hand how quick things can go from he is looking great to what the heck just happened.

My mom is going to be keeping a close eye on him.

Let's hope those prayers keep working for him and he continues to get his strength back.

On another note there were some very sick people on his floor and some families dealing with some tough issues with their family members.

Enjoy the good times while you can and no matter how bad things get...remember there is always someone that has probably got it worse.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Your father was included in our morning prayers today. He has people all over the world who wants to see him healthy. Keep up the good fight and may you and your whole family find some peace.

Thanks for the many prayers guys. Pneumonia, CDIF, and maybe a mini stroke or any combination of who knows what put me back in the hospital again. Lots of antibiotics and answered prayers earned me a ticket home tonight.

Haven’t posted much in a long time but had to stop in when I saw this. Dutch, so sorry to hear of your health issues. But so encouraged that you seem to be rebounding. I’m praying these antibiotics kick this sepsis and pneumonia in the pants.

Glen, thanks for asking for prayers and the updates. Christ is faithful to intercede on behalf of those who know him, and it is a privilege to lift all of you up in prayer. You are a good son.

Continuing prayers for a full and speedy recovery ..Just came back from cruising all around Lewisville Lake in the truck..Lookin nasty out there and I wasn't feeling 100% anyway so I thought about you and said "nah the fish will be there for another time" LoL!!.......Did find some promising spawn spots for next year ..lol!!

So sorry to hear this, Hogon and reminds me of the blitzkrieg of events that happened to my late father between 2010 and his passing in 2012. Hate that for you during the holidays (lost my dad 12/8/12).

Sounds like he has a great support system at him that will take care of him more than the hospital staff would be able to. I'm praying for a speedy recovery.

Thoughts and prayers sir... it's hard to deal with I know....buried my pop yesterday... just spend every minute you can.
