Dallas, Richardson, Plano, Allen etc?

Re: Best BBQ in north Texas? - 11/05/20 09:03 PM

407 BBQ, 831 FM 407, Argyle, TX. Owner Bryan (aka Tman) is a long-time TFFer.

Hurtado BBQ, 205 E Front St, Arlington.

407 is my favorite but it's almost an hour drive for me each way. Hurtado is about five minutes from my house and is great BBQ also.

Hutchins is good and so is 407, can't go wrong with either.

On my way to Houston last week I stopped in Fairfield @ Cole's BBQ, one of my favorite chopped beef sandwiches there is. It was still really good but I did have sticker shock on the $16 price tag it came with.

That was for a bag of ships and a 20oz drink...... Don't know I can afford that stop in the future.

We have a store in McKinney that is just around the corner from Hutchins.

I had to go up there during the COVID-19 shutdown and they suggested me eating there.

I went through their makeshift drive through and it was well worth it! cheers

Picked this up from Hurtado's in Arlington today. It's exactly what you'd expect from a top tier bbq joint. Smoked quail was a nice touch.

Some more I'd add to the list are Lockhart's in downtown Plano, Winner's a little further east in Plano, Tender Smokehouse in Celina, and Blu's BBQ on Preston Road just south of Frankford.

All are excellent.

After trying Winners a few weeks ago, everything on my tray went into the trash. The worst attempt at BBQ I have ever seen.

Our office gas been to Cattleack at least once a month since they opened, lines vary. To me it’s over smoked. Meeshaks is one of my favorites. For the best balanced BBQ try One 90 meats in Dallas on east NWY.

It's not TX Monthly. It's a single guy who reports for TX Monthly. Daniel's reviews are typically really good and he hit's tons of places outside of the majors and post them on his social media. The major cities are the bbq reviews people are looking for. Nobody is traveling to Jasper or Alpine for good Que. I do think Daniel knocked the likes of the 407's and the Hiem's this go round as they use a gas fired rotisserie and not a true "pitmaster" per say. Set it and forget it. I don't totally agree with Daniel knocking that if he did, but I get it. Similar to the debate of the backyard smokers vs pellet smokers. End product is all I care about.

Has zero to do with pit. It's not a single guy, it was also the editor's of said magazine who were supposed to be the "BBQ expert" shoppers.
I have a great suspicion as to why, but I'll leave it there. IFKYK
