Marble Falls

Marble Falls - 03/29/18 11:45 AM

We are looking for a place to stay geared towards fishermen. I have visited the area but not to go fishing.
We would like to fish LBJ, Inks,Buchanan.
It seems like the area is geared more for upscale accommodations and water skiers.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Check out Big Chief Resort on Buchanan. They have cabins and RV spots. Private Boat ramp. Minutes from Inks and LBJ. 10 minutes from Burnet. My daughter and I stay here on occasion for a staycation.

Pie happy hour at the Blue Bonnet Café. It's what you do when not fishing.

Don't forget to eat at the Highlander. Haven't been there in a while but there use to be a tackle shop in the restaurant..

It's been 16-17 years since we have eaten there. We stopped many times going or coming back from the deer lease. It was always good food reasonably priced, just didn't care for the live musician that was sometimes there.

Funny how this turned to places to eat other than places to stay.
I don't mind cause we all gotta eat.
Probably going to stay in a cabin at Inks Lake state park?
Anyone have an opinion on this plan?
Thanks

Ditto, you might as well go to a hospital cafeteria and eat there.

If 'eating' posts were banned from the TFF, posts would decrease 30%. Do not get the inFATuation with eating, but just leaving this here.

Well instead of finding a place to stay for just the weekend we moved to the Kingsland area.

We are still in search of a good Mexican food joint.
I always start with enchiladas at a new place then the flour tortilla.
Call me weird but if we can find excellent enchiladas the rest of the menu is usually spot on as well.
I'm not saying any of the places in Kingsland have bad food just not what we are used too.

Its funny how the Mexican food can change so much in different parts of Texas.
Coming from the San Antonio area its been a very interesting transition.

Alfredos in Kingsland is really good. Also try Julies in Cottonwood and Super Taco in Marble.

No problem. Tamale King has gone down hill. That new place in Kingsland on the Lake isn't to bad. As far as fishing LBJ be extremely careful. Lake maps/GPS is useless after the flood especially at the mouth of the Colorado and Llano. The flood reshaped the lake and new sandbars are everywhere.

If you think the Mexican food transition from SA to Marble Falls was interesting DO NOT move to East Texas!
Well...unless butter in your salsa sounds like a good idea.

Re: Marble Falls - 12/13/18 02:03 PM

I have only ventured out once since we moved here, we went up the Llano slowly.
We are unfortunately on the other side of the 2900 bridge.
The neighborhood has a boat ramp that is kinda usable.
I never got to see the Llano by water before the flood, its a disaster area if you got the balls to run wide open I would like to witness it LOL !

On a side note a TV station out of Austin had a report that stated when the new Bridge construction started the workers would be working 24 hours a day even through the holidays.
I can tell you first hand this isn't happening, I admire them for getting started so quickly and I pray for there safety.
