That bait site is pretty much impossible to hunt with a bow. I would love to bow hunt him, but I have no realistic place to put a pop up or tree stand there.

I was driving around that afternoon checking on things. The bear walked out about 800-900 yards in front of me. Got closer and noticed its ears were both tagged (the most common indicator that it was a nuisance at some point). To double check, I shot a text over to the local GW. He responded immediately and said it was a nuisance bear and that it would be a good idea to shoot it. I proceeded to put the stalk on and killed the bear. I had on a red shirt, tennis shoes, and a pair of shorts. It was muddy as hell that day which didn't help. I had the local game and fish office run the ear tag numbers when I took the carcass in for inspection, and it turns out they had caught the bear several times getting into our neighbor's feed bin. black bear hunting over bait is ghay... the hunter should be made to go at the bear with a knife in his underwear...the only way to make it fair... I've known a lot of ladies who filled their tags with a .243, what a score...

I followed that thread and never saw anyone accuse him of poaching. You didn't clear anything up. You muddied it.

I've never had bear meat. How is it?

I've heard it's greasy but edible. Some say it's delicious. Probably depends in how it's prepared and who cooks it.

Damn fine bear. Hope you get it. As far as the nuisance bear, I hunt coyotes year round usually on property where someone has called about being overrun with them. I guess by this threads rationale I shouldn't shoot the smaller ones.

bait barrels are the common method for bear, most hunters use tree stands (this part makes me laugh, black bear can climb trees). I guided one bear hunt and didn't care for it, just not my style of hunting and personally I will only hunt for meat or nuisance riddance.

it probably takes more balls to bait the barrel than hunt with just a knife, trust me, you do not want to smell what is in those barrels.

Isn't baiting the standard way of hunting deer in Texas?
